The Ngorongoro Crater is a millions of years-old volcanic caldera a massive natural bowl that has become a self-contained Eden. It is one of the densest wildlife areas in Africa.
The Big Five Sanctuary
Inside the crater, you are almost guaranteed to see the "Big Five" (Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Elephant, and Black Rhino) in a single day. The floor is home to over 25,000 large animals, including massive bull elephants and prides of healthy lions.
Maasai Culture
The conservation area is also unique because the Maasai people coexist with the wildlife, grazing their cattle on the outer slopes of the caldera, preserving a way of life that has vanished elsewhere.
