Morning flight from Dar es Salaam to Ruaha airstrip. Afternoon game drive along the Great Ruaha River — massive hippo pods, enormous crocodiles, and your first elephant herds.
Two game drives in Ruaha — Africa wild south at its best. Search for lion, leopard, African wild dog, and the impressive Greater Kudu. Ruaha has some of the finest predator viewing in Africa.
Morning flight or drive to Nyerere (formerly Selous). Afternoon boat safari on the Rufiji River — hippos at arm length, enormous Nile crocodiles, and kingfishers fishing from overhanging branches.
Morning game drive through open woodland — elephant, buffalo, lion, and wild dog. Afternoon walking safari with armed ranger — read tracks, identify trees, and feel the bush at ground level.
Morning boat safari — golden light on the river. Midday flight back to Dar es Salaam for onward connections.
