Registration at Marangu Gate. Trek 5 hours through lush equatorial rainforest — colobus monkeys overhead, giant tree ferns, and the first views opening through the canopy. Arrive at Mandara Hut for dinner and your first mountain sleep.
The forest gives way to open moorland and spectacular panoramas. Trek 7-8 hours through heather and giant groundsel. Horombo Hut sits in a saddle with dramatic views of both Kibo and Mawenzi peaks.
Rest and acclimatize at Horombo. Optional day walk to Zebra Rocks (3,900m) to help acclimatization. Afternoon rest, evening briefing for the summit push ahead.
Cross the High Desert — also called the Saddle — a barren arctic moonscape between the two peaks. Trek 6 hours to Kibo Hut. Early dinner at 5 PM. Sleep by 7 PM for the midnight summit attempt.
Midnight start. Zigzag up steep scree slopes to Gilman Point (5,681m) on the crater rim at dawn. Continue along the rim to UHURU PEAK (5,895m) — Africa highest point. Descend all the way back to Horombo Hut.
Final descent through the moorland and forest back to Marangu Gate. Receive your official summit certificate. Transfer to Moshi or Arusha for celebration dinner.
Transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport or Arusha for onward connections. Depart with unforgettable memories.
