Transfer from Arusha to Londorossi Gate on the remote western side. Begin trekking through pristine rainforest rarely seen on other routes. 3-4 hours to Mti Mkubwa camp.
Leave the rainforest and emerge onto the open Shira Plateau — an ancient collapsed volcanic caldera now covered in heather. 6-7 hours of stunning high-altitude walking.
Cross the Shira Plateau with sweeping views of the Shira Cathedral rock formation and Kibo cone. 4-5 hours. Afternoon rest and acclimatization.
Acclimatization day — climb to Lava Tower (4,630m) above the clouds, then descend to Barranco Camp (3,960m). First views of the massive Southern Ice Fields.
The Barranco Wall scramble — dramatic hands-and-feet climbing above the clouds. Extraordinary views back to the Shira Plateau and western Tanzania.
Final acclimatization trek to the summit launch pad. Arrive midday, rest, eat well, hydrate, and sleep early for the midnight departure.
Midnight start under stars and headlamps. Battle through the Arctic zone as temperature drops. Summit Stella Point at dawn. Continue to UHURU PEAK (5,895m) — the Roof of Africa. Long descent to Mweka Camp.
Final rainforest descent to Mweka Gate. Summit certificate ceremony. Transfer to Arusha.
